Learn how to apply or waive processing fees (surcharges) when creating PayLinks
Processing fees (surcharges) help you recover payment processing costs by adding a fee to transactions. When enabled for a payment gateway, these fees automatically apply to PayLink payments processed through that gateway.
NOTE: To activate and configure processing fees in your account, please see our detailed guide here: Processing and Surcharging Fees.
Adding Processing Fees
When creating a PayLink (see Creating a PayLink and QR Codeto learn more), it’s important to select the correct payment payment type that has processing fees activated and configured.
If your account has multiple gateways, make sure to choose the appropriate one for the transaction.
If you enter a fixed amount for the PayLink, the processing fee configured for that gateway will be automatically added. If you leave the field blank (allowing the payer to choose the amount), the processing fee will be automatically calculated based on the amount entered. This fee will be charged once the payment is completed.
Waiving the Processing Fee
When creating a PayLink, if a payment gateway is selected with processing fees configured, you have the option to waive the fee. Before saving the link, simply select the "Waive processing fee" checkbox. This will exclude the processing fee for all transactions completed using the selected payment gateway. Waiving the fee ensures that the customer will not be charged any additional amount.
TIP: Merchants can create two separate PayLinks, one that includes a processing fee and another that does not. You can manage this easily by creating a secondary PayLink and updating the fee settings in the PayLink editor before saving it.
