Understanding Payment Processor Responses in the Log

  • For paid transactions, the log will typically indicate an approved status from the payment processor.

  • For failed transactions, the log provides critical insight by showing the error code and the error message returned by the processor.

These messages often include important details such as insufficient funds, lost or expired card, or other reasons for transaction failure. This information helps you understand the cause of the decline and guides your decision on how to proceed with the customer, including whether or not to retry the transaction.

Such guidance is generally supported by the payment processor’s own documentation on error codes and messages.

Important Notes

Each payment processor maintains its own set of error codes and messages. For full interpretation of specific codes or messages, please refer to the documentation provided by your payment processor.
