# Creating a Payment Request

## This article will explain the process of creating and managing payment requests on the Cashflow.io platform.

### **Overview:**

Cashflow.io's payment requests allow you to easily and securely request payments from your customers. Whether you're sending invoices, or offering early payment discounts, our platform streamlines the entire process, helping you get paid faster while offering your customers flexible options.

### **Creating a payment request**

To create a payment request, follow these steps:

1\. On the **Home **page, click the **RECEIVE **card.

2\. Click the **Request Payment **card. You will be directed to the **Request Payment**page.

 3\. Enter the payment request details, including:

- **Amount** - Enter the amount of the payment request and select the appropriate currency (if required).
- **Payment Methods** - Select the payment methods you wish to accept for this payment request (credit cards, EFT/ACH, etc.).
- **Customer Details** - Enter the customer's name, email, phone number (optional) and any comments or notes (optional).
- **Invoice Number** - Enter an invoice number (optional).
- [**Offer Payment Terms**](https://support.cashflow.io/creating-a-payment-plan-1?hsLang=en) - Offer your customers a payment plan via multiple installments, with or without interest fees. - [**Early Payment Discount**](https://support.cashflow.io/what-is-an-early-payment-discount?hsLang=en) - Encourage your customers to pay faster by offering them a discount if they pay sooner. [Learn more.](https://support.cashflow.io/what-is-an-early-payment-discount?hsLang=en)
- **File & Document Attachment** - Choose to send a file attached to the payment request.
- **Automated Collections** - Automatically send payment reminders to your customer at the interval you choose until the payment request is paid.

4\. Once the payment request details have been completed, select either **SEND REQUEST or REQUEST PREAUTH.**

- **Send Request** will notify your contact by email or SMS, requesting payment.
- **Request Preauth** will notify your contact by email or SMS, requesting a preauthorization of the funds. Please note that to request a preauthorization, all other payment methods except credit card must be disabled, as preauthorization applies only to card payments.

### **Managing your payment requests**

Once a payment request is created, it will be visible in the [Receivables History](https://support.cashflow.io/how-to-view-receivables?hsLang=en) list with the current status. Selecting a transaction in the [Receivables History](https://support.cashflow.io/how-to-view-receivables?hsLang=en) list allows you to view and edit certain details of that transaction. Different options are available depending on the transaction's current status:

- Resend the payment request
- View or copy the request link
- See the log of the transaction

### **Cancelling a payment request**
